Immerse yourself in a focused and reflective painting environment.
Working from printed still life paintings and landscapes, you’ll slow down, observe deeply, and learn how to translate what you see onto canvas. Through careful reproduction, you’ll strengthen your understanding of composition, tone, and colour relationships.
Without controlled light, even the most trained eye struggles to read form. That’s why this workshop is rooted in colour—to help artists truly see through the play of radiance and light, and apply it confidently in paint.
We searched for a space that fully supported this kind of quiet, observational practice… so we created our own.

About the Workshop
This is not a lecture-based class.
The workshop is designed around learning by doing. You will work directly with professional filmmaking equipment, practise camera operation and take part in the creation of a short filmed sequence.
Whether you are starting your filmmaking journey or want to become more confident working with professional cinema equipment, this workshop will give you a practical introduction to the techniques used on real productions.
Places are limited to keep the workshop practical and give participants time behind the camera.

4. Lighting for Film
We will create a simple cinematic lighting setup in the studio and explore:
• Key light
• Fill light
• Backlight
• Light direction
• Controlling shadows
• Creating mood and atmosphere
5. Recording Professional Sound
Good filmmaking is not only about the image.
Learn the fundamentals of:
• Connecting professional microphones
• XLR audio inputs
• Setting recording levels
• Monitoring with headphones
• Recording clean dialogue
Practical Filming Exercise
Now it’s time to put everything into practice.
Working together, participants will use the Sony FX9 to film a short cinematic sequence.
You will have the opportunity to operate the camera and experiment with composition, focus, lighting, movement and sound.
We will create a simple sequence using:
• Establishing/wide shot
• Medium shot
• Close-up
• Detail shot
• Reaction shot
• Camera movement
At the end of the workshop, we will watch selected footage together and discuss what worked and how the shots could be improved.
